Gary Downing – MD of Leland Originals
Gary Downing is the MD of Leland Originals, a composer agency working specifically within film, TV, advertising and other media. Gary has worked in the music industry for the last 17 years, having started his career at Warner/Chappell Music Publishing initially within the copyright and business affairs departments before moving into, and eventually running, the synchronisation and licensing department. He went on to head up the synchronisation team at Chrysalis Music Publishing, before setting up his own independent music consultancy working most notably with Saatchi & Saatchi and T-Mobile on their series of flash-mob commercials. He has subsequently worked at music and brand marketing company FRUKT, music publisher Music Sales and Universal Music’s label services arm, Caroline International. In 2016 Gary formed Leland Originals with Abi Leland, as a sister organisation to one of the UK’s most successful and respected music supervision companies, Leland Music.
Jen O’Connell – Director of Song Publishing and Licensing, Integrity Music.
Jen is currently Director of Song Publishing and Licensing at Integrity Music. This involves finding new ways in which to promote the writers and song catalogue whilst also ensuring that royalties are accurately collected and distributed throughout Europe. She was previously General Manager at Beggars Music responsible for all day to day copyright and royalties administration in addition to overseeing licensing deals. This included setting up a network of new sub publishers for the company with a focus on both maximising value from licensing deals and ensuring that copyrights were registered worldwide.
Ayla Owen – Head of Music and Partner at The Most Radicalist Black Sheep Music
Ayla Owen is Head of Music and Partner at The Most Radicalist Black Sheep Music, the music division within global advertising agency Bartle Bogle Hegarty (BBH), as well as Editor In Chief of themostradicalist.com, an emerging artist blog featuring daily reviews of the best in new music. She is Co-Chair on the Senior Board of the UK & European Guild of Music Supervisors.
Victor Finn – CEO IMRO
Victor Finn, CEO, IMRO. Prior to becoming CEO of IMRO, Victor Finn was Managing Director of The Mechanical Copyright Protection Society (Ireland), during which time he oversaw significant developments in the Irish music publishing industry, as income for publishers and songwriters shifted from traditional physical product to digital.
A Chartered Management Accountant with a degree in Marketing from University of Limerick. Since joining IMRO he has positioned IMRO as the primary rights organisation in Ireland, with IMRO taking on the administration of mechanical rights thus allowing one-stop shop licensing for online, mobile and broadcast music services.
Partnerships with European collecting societies ensure that IMROs international and online revenues continue to grow. Transitioning IMRO into an efficient licensing operation in Ireland has meant the organisation continues to thrive domestically as the economy recovers.
